The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge is pleased to announce its 2012 curriculum for its popular Cooking School. Celebrating its fifth year, Cooking School continues to evolve and celebrate the palate in rewarding and unexpected ways. Under the direction of Chef de Cuisine J. Kelly Morrow and Executive Sous ChefDavid Moore, Cooking School offers an entertaining, informative and interactive class for all culinary levels.

Cooking School begins with a welcome reception with a continental breakfast, mimosas and Bloody Marys. Chef Morrow and Chef Moore will lead the class in preparing a variety of dishes, detailing all of the techniques and aspects of presentation. Each class will be limited in size, designed to give students personal attention and hands-on instruction.

The hotel now features the brand’s new Refreshing Business lobby concept, designed to give travelers the flexibility to work and socialize however they choose while on the road.

The Golf Club at Ballantyne to Host the Ballantyne Junior Open

One hundred twenty young golfers will tee it up at the Ballantyne Junior Open being hosted again this year by The Golf Club at Ballantyne on February 11-12, 2012. The Ballantyne Junior Open is a 36-hole stroke golf tournament directed by Marc Lapointe, Senior Instructor at Dana Rader Golf School.

Junior Golfers are flighted into four groups based on age and gender with boys age 13-14, boys age 15-18, girls age 13-14, and girls age 15-18 years old. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 10:00am on Saturday, February 11 and conclude with a final round on Sunday, February 12. The general public is welcome to observe. Admission is free.

The deadline for entries has closed and the final field will be posted online at www.danarader.com/BallantyneJuniorOpen.cfm. The field was determined by the player’s performance in the 2011 Ballantyne Junior Open, state ranking, national ranking, scoring average, and special exemption by the tournament committee.

Promotions within Dana Rader Golf School
Marc Lapointe, PGA Class A Professional has been promoted to Director of Instruction.
Marc has been with us for nine years and has done an incredible job. He has earned this very high distinction of Director of instruction because he is a great teacher, businessman, leader and innovator. He has brought so much to our school and I'm extremely proud to have him at the helm of our school. He will still be very much engaged in the teaching of private and school programs, and will be in charge of assisting Julie Cole and I on the day-to-day operations of the business. He will supervise all of the instructors as well as oversee programs and business development. Marc's continuing education has been with FlightScope technology, Tomi putting system, the D plane.

Nancy Harvey, LPGA Class A Professional has been promoted to Master Professional.
In her new role, she will provide ongoing feedback to the team on best practices in all the new and current trends in teaching. In order for Nancy to be named Master instructor, she has to complete certifications and continuing education each year. This year she received her certification by completing 30 hours in Performance Coaching by Dr. Rick Jensen, a noted sports psychologist. She also has continuing education in AimPoint technology, the D-plane, and TPI for Juniors which has amounted to 11 hours of continuing education.

Doug Breuer, PGA Class A Professional has been promoted to Director of Facility Operations.
Doug not only has been and continues to be an outstanding teacher, but also has always taken it upon himself to keep the facility at a Top 5% condition. His role is overseeing the outside service team and communicating our Top 5% expectations. Doug has been with the school for 6 years and he has certainly earned this promotion and we are all very proud to have him on our team.

Molly Tullar, LPGA and PGA Class A Professional has been named Director of Junior Golf and just completed her Class A PGA certification. She now is a dual member of both the PGA and LPGA. Recently, she attained certification in TPI Titleist Performance institute. This certification is to assess a student’s fitness level and flexibility. She is young at age, but in the past three years has accumulated an amazing amount of knowledge, certifications, and has done an incredible job teaching players of all levels.

Tom Cannarozzo, PGA Class A Professional, has joined the teaching staff of Dana Rader Golf School as Staff Instructor.

Tom Cannarozzo is a class "A" member of the PGA of America and was the founder of the Synchronized Golf Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas where he taught at Chenal Country Club and operated a Mobile Golf Academy at numerous golf facilities throughout the region. Throughout his 13 year teaching career, Tom has worked with over 40 Top 100 Golf Instructors. He has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards including among others, being named Arkansas PGA Teacher of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and Arkansas PGA Player of the Year in 2011. Tom is certified as a both a Golf Machine and Medicus Golf Institute Instructor, Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Professional, and is a member of the Golf Coaches Certification Association.
